The first time I saw Kendo entering the hall he was wearing sort of cuban heel boots which made his 6ft 2in about 6ft 5in. Very smartly attired he looked a massive man in his street clothes.Your opinions please.
Kendo was a big lad especially when you stand near him at 13 year old, funnily enough I didn't think Shirley was that big a specimen despite his weight. The biggest wrestler I ever saw on the street was Vader. He was as wide as he was tall, a big old unit.
I think it is evident that after the age of 40 Kendo became a fair bit heavier , and I also think his style was then a bit more economical. I only really judge him up to the 1977 unmasking , at which point he lost all that mystery to me. I did not know until I came on Heritage that he had made a return to the ring , Somehow the 1980's passed me by as far as Wrestling was concerned. Belle Vue and Bolton had gone so there was very little going on in Manchester.
Hi Ron.Kendo's weight did vary quite a lot.For many years Kent Walton stated he was 16 and a half stones and when he tagged with John Quinn he was given as 16 stones and 12 pounds.However.we will never know if these were actually correct. As was stated in another post there was no evidence anybody actually got weighed. It may have been the weight the wrestler told KW on the day or perhaps what KW thought he looked.
I saw a lot of him and his claimed six one and a half is bang on. With his leather jacket on he was broader than he looked in the ring. Big man , but not a giant , but was big enough to stand up well with bigger men. A very straight stature. The cuban heels , well I never saw him in these , only George.
Even back in 1972 or so I would have thought he was 16 stones. For a long time his official weight I think was 15-3.
His signing of autographs in Japanese was genuine and I have seen him take the time to do dozens and they could not be rushed.

With some wrestlers it was the reverse looking smaller out of the ring
Big Bruno was enormous!
