By the way, if we want to go way beyond "the Golden Era", some of the modern superstars of Japanese wrestling have wrestled over here, but would be outside the scope of our usual time period.
Didn't realise Masa Chono worked over here for Orig, I saw him wrestle overseas, great wrestler. I know that occasionally, Orig's "Reslo" TV show would show matches from Otto Wanz's CWA promotion from Germany (Dave Finlay vs Tony St. Clair in a steel cage match, for example) and Masa Chono did appear in CWA.
There were a couple of other Japanese wrestlers who worked over here after the TV era finished. One was Michi Ohara who wrestled as both Fuji Tanaka and Tokyo Tanaka for All Star and Satoshi Kojima who wrestled as Lion Satoshi. Kojima was the lad who takes on Dave Finlay in an infamous "stiff" match, where both of them seem to go in really hard.
I did the list in about 30 seconds Anglo, while watching TV with a beer, so yes I missed a couple off, and Chati was from Nagoya in Japan, whereas Jesus Chong Ames (Amet Chong) was from Peru.
Good to see you on topic, Matey Dave. And you are quite right.
I think we even have to knock out Romeo's starter as The Great Togo represented the USA in the 1948 Olympics.
Goro Tanaka seemed authentic.
Saxonwolf knows his stuff and has chosen to omit Chati Yokouchi but included Togo Tani. Wasn't Chati Peruvian?
This is an overdue idea, Romeo. Nice. Personally I have always been baffled by these multiple identities and names. I hope you will do an update to create the definitive list?
A tribute to Otani has been added in the Top Wrestlers of the 1930s section.

If so, it was actually filmed in Germany, and shown on Reslo, it has our own Mick McMichael as referee.
Hi SaxonWolf.Just watched Masahiro Chono vs Tony StClair from Reslo on Youtube.Sorry can't give the link but it's well worth a watch.Top draw.
By the way, if we want to go way beyond "the Golden Era", some of the modern superstars of Japanese wrestling have wrestled over here, but would be outside the scope of our usual time period.

Another was Masahiro Chono who ,I think, worked mainly for Orig Williams.
Well spotted Anglo.Wasn't he Harold Sakata an American of Japanese heritage?
I did the list in about 30 seconds Anglo, while watching TV with a beer, so yes I missed a couple off, and Chati was from Nagoya in Japan, whereas Jesus Chong Ames (Amet Chong) was from Peru.
No Saxonwolf, I wouldn't confuse Ahmet Chong with anyone, that would be unkind.
You left Chati off your list.
And I do seem to recall that he was Peruvian.
Tanaka was a super worker in the same class as Rocco and Jones
Correct Anglo, Great Togo was born in Hawaii.
Goro Tanaki and Chati Yokouchi were both Japanese, I think you are thinking of Amet Chong, Anglo, who came from Peru.
Good to see you on topic, Matey Dave. And you are quite right.
