I've just been reading a little about this in one of A.S books but he dosen't go into a lot of detail, can anyone enlighten me further? Late 60s or early 70s I believe.Cheers.
Good point. Having a face that fits applies in all aspects of life really. Bobby had a huge pressence in the ring. In his younger years he was absolute top draw and his parnership with Adrain Street was absolutely perfect. The good ole days before this mess we live in now, huh? Seems like a lifetime ago ... oh hang on it was!
I really don't know Frank. You may well have a point, it makes sense. Against the argument are the likes of George Kidd, Eddie Capelli and Joe D'Orazio who worked against Joint and were then accepted back. you could be right. But there were others who should have reached greater heights. Maybe a case of whether the face fitted.
Hack/Anglo, thank you once again that was an informative and interesting read. With Adrain Street and Bobby Barnes standing in the front line maybe this explains the mystery as to why Bobby Barnes never reached the heights he should have. At the very least he should have been a champion of some sorts.
