Thanks to the excellent JN Lister website four wrestlers with previously no matches on the net now appear. There is an excellent match between Mike Brooks and Johnny Peters(Ripon/Thirsk).
A not so excellent match often repeated between Tug Holton and Les Kellett.
Also Peter Preston makes his first appearance on the net versus Kung Fu
A further crop of matches now on the same site including several which were final TV appearances
I’ve had the Steve Wright match on disc for some years and have lauded it here on Heritage. It is a great example of Wright’s early brilliance and Maxine’s great ability to both sell substantially for his young opponent, putting him over as a star in the making, whilst still putting in a strong showing of his own abilities. Very good match!
Also found possibly the only pre move to Germany match of Steve Wright .It is versus Brian Maxine
Also 2 Danny Lynch contests from Japan.
No, Peter, if you meant that Peter's win over McManus was his last tv appearance that's not right. He remained a giant killer in the north and was on tv with 2-0 wins over The Wild Man of Borneo and Ezzard Hart.
Peter Preston was a capable wrestler, his only problem was that he had less charisma than Alan Colbeck
In an authentic sport gaining a win over a competitor who "never lost would be hailed as a great achievement not to be forgotten".Instead this was Peter Prestons last TV appearance.
Thanks Peter.
Not a word from Kent Walton about Peter Preston having defeated McManus on tv. Further sign Kent was in McManus's pocket.
Funnily enough, Peter Preston's style is very like McManus's here, especially when he waves both hands in panic, as it were.
