A long way out from what I would have called Wryton Land I have found that they were at Peterborough in 1952.
I have added a new gallery to cover 1952-1956 showing the changeover.

Another thing that interests me is a couple of Gerry Hoggarth Bills. Not sure if I have him working for Wryton before.
Hope William R spots these.
So right Bernard , I joined a Gym in 1968. It was upstairs in an old barn with no heating. A lot of guys came in jeans and a t shirt and pullover and never did any leg work. Some of us younger guys teamed up and did an hour on the Squat rack.
Some of the older guys could bench press a lot more than they could ever squat.
It was a great local amenity at the time that got a few of us kids off the street. I did 15 years there.
I remember Rex Harrison (bill, 5th April 1952) quite well. One night he came to Newcastle in Norman Walsh's car.
He had a well developed upper body, but his legs were not as well muscled.
Later I asked Norman if he knew why.
He said that Rex had spent many years in the merchant navy, and did all of his bodybuilding on a bench, Due to the rolling of the ship when it was at sea.
Was Milton Reid wrestling as early as 1952. I think we have a mystery here.
I think you might be right James. Reid had a longer career than I had envisaged.
Was Jungle Boy Milton Reid in his pre-Chang days ?
As a Northampton fan I assumed that Peterborough was Dale Martin like we were. Wryton was an eye opener.....
Just added 1960 and considering it was regular Thursday nights , some great visitors to these shores were on display.
Unfortunately Dale Martins were sloppy with the advertising and late in the year developed the habit of just advertising Wrestling on Thursdays. For the next couple of years that was all the value they seemed to put on this venue.

Wonder who won this tournament
Jerry Hogarth is called world champ in Back Hold style of wrestling wow...was he a Back-Holder I wonder? The thing is back then British Amateur Wrestling Championship was contested in 2 style namely, Catch (FS) and Cumbrian Back Hold.
