1963, not sure it qualifies as the WRYTON TROPHY either, this time its Altrincham.
Not sure if it qualifies as the WRYTON TROPHY, they weren't specific, but yes Victoria Hall, Hanley.
Below are the references to the Wryton Trophy KOs late 50s-60s.
Thanks To: Ron, The Ost.
Dear Main Mask, thanks so much for making this post and sharing priceless material from your collection. APPRECIATE THAT A LOT.
This is 'new' Wryton Trophy.
Hi MM, any mention of Wryton Trophy or Wryton Silver Cup or anything of that nature would be great to see. But keen to see any Wryton promotional activity.
I'm trying to find Jim Mellor winning one of these tournaments as I have a photo of him holding the Trophy.
Here is a copy of the Bolton one in 1959 that Ost mentions.
Wow, great finds on these clippings MM!
The first one you've posted was May 23, 1959. There was an earlier Wryton Trophy hence the name "New Wryton Trophy" for this particular tournament. The part about the winner holding it for one year must only pertain to Hanley, as there was a Wryton Trophy event in Bolton on October 30 of that year.
The second one you've posted was June 3, 1961. There were at least two Wryton Trophy events in 1960, at Bolton and Willenhall. But it makes me think there may have been a Hanley one as well. Please share any other information you come across for Wryton stuff. I had both these tournaments listed but not as Wryton Trophy events.
