In Memories of the Old Days
I found this little file through Google and gathered, that Dick the Dormouse and Jessie Rogers had a little wrestling war with Wryton in Crewe in 1957 https://sandbachwhatson.weebly.com/uploads/2/0/2/0/20204185/1881_to_1999_lyceum_crewe_history.pdf "THEATRE NEWS 6 July 1957THE THEATRE CLOSED DUE TO THE LACK OF SUPPORT. 3 Aug 1957Mr Armitage owen re opened the theatre with a WRESTLING bill. The Town Hall held their presentation on Thursday nights while the New Theatre held theirs on the Friday night." In the Gallery section you will see that Wryton started running the Crewe Town Hall. Dick & Jessie seemed to hold on until at least October 25. There are some other wrestling mentions in the file, like a cinematograph being used for a showing of Georg Hackenschmidt vs Yankee Rogers. Hopefully someone forgot the reel in a corner in that building.
