I remember an incident at Catford.. An old man came up to the side of the ring and hit Rollerball Rocco with a walking stick. He then tried it a second time, and Rocco got hold of the walking stick, broke it in half and gave it back to him.

Very sad news indeed. His rivalry with Marty Jones was the stuff of legend, those bouts were full blooded and more often than not pretty brutal, and in the late '80's Rocco also feuded with fellow heels Kendo Nagasaki, Fit Finlay, Skull Murphy and the Mongolian Mauler. Nobody slept when this man was on. RIP Mark Rollerball Rocco, a true wrestling legend.

The demise of ITV wrestling 30 years ago still brings a lump to the throat. In truth, Max Crabtree let too many quality wrestlers (Rocco, Saint, Quinn, St Clair, Kung Fu to name but a few) defect to All Star, just so Big Daddy couldn't be outdone, and the quality of the last 2 years of televised Joint Promotions shows veered from the mediocre to the abject, with maybe a good bout or two here and there. Th All Star shows on ITV were excellent though, it was good to see the aforementioned names back on the box after years of absence. But then the odious Greg Dyke decided to axe wrestling, and come up with nonsensical piffle that it was dated and stuck in the 1960's. And what did he replace wrestling with? WWE/F rubbish, and repeats of garbage such as Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Airwolf and Chips. I mean, Chips for heaven's sake! Rant over.
