I recently watched the Channel 5 doc, '48 How Britain Saved The Olympics. (You can find it on catch up).
There was a short piece on the wrestling but the footage shown was not Olympic wrestling at all but pro. Dodgy bit of editing on someones part but I wonder if this was a canny promotor piggybacking on The Games and can anyone identify the wrestlers.
I've just watched this. Professional, as Ray says, and no idea who they were. Laughable to hear these "experts", far too young to remember it, pontificating about the wrestling.
It's on at 33 minutes but very brief showing 2 pairs of wrestlers. The second pair you get to see a face , but nobody that springs to mind. The first pair a very muscular black and considering it's 1948 , a wild guess would be Phil Siki "The Black Arrow"
But Holy smoke Ray , I don't think there will be many offers.
You are right though , Pro wrestling for sure.
