Hi all,
Finally got my technical issues sorted, and am able to add images to the website once again.
I have started a gallery of Dave C's fabulous collection of British posters, in particular from the year 1959. I will post in this topic each time I add new posters to the gallery.
Hopefully this link works: https://www.wrestlingheritage.co.uk/apps/photos/album?albumid=16228330
Thanks! You're doing the lords work
For some reason the message lost the word' when I posted via phone, the missing word was welsh, it wasn't a question, thanks for noticing
Hi Powerlock?
Are you asking me something?
live the billing on the first poster since when did Anglo mean
Thanks again Ostie - Superb!
1959 Posters is only one of The Ost's magnificent albums. Enjoy more...
Dula seems to have been really prominent in this era
Thanks Ost
Glad everyone is enjoying these, to me they are like treasure. I've just added the posters for November to the gallery. A few dates have posters for more than one show (up to 4 for some). Enjoy: https://www.wrestlingheritage.co.uk/apps/photos/album?albumid=16228330
Hopefully i'll be updating this again in December.
Jaime Dula now has a 1958 match on You Tube versus Robert Duranton in Paris
Wonderful collection Ostie - I agree wholeheartedly with Ron; truly the dawn of the Golden Age. Every bout first class. Gordienko, Gidea, Robinson......supreme talent.
Grateful Thanks.
Yes a great collection Ost, and beautifully presented, thanks. Heavyweights definitely ruling the roost. from memory my impression is that this was the case as late as 1961 so I think you might be right Anglo Italian that 1962 and McManus v Pallo could have been a turning point.
Yes, sure is interesting to note Alan Garfield always top of the bill, even above the likes of Robinson, Nelson and others.
McManus and Pallo still always down the bill. There must be a watershed somewhere when they both became bill-toppers. Was it as late as McManus v Pallo I in May 1962? Was that really their big push?
Fascinating to see Hunter & Hayes still joined at the hip in late 1959, just when Lincoln must have been planning industriously.
Back to Garfield and I couldn't help but note the slip of him in an Anhlo-Hungarian bout, when billed from Sydney. They soon gave up on the Australia angle. He was so British and such a talker - I imagine he must have feigned an Aussie accent?
Great days Ost , the year I started watching and the first year here of Two Rivers and also Ian Campbell. Rich talent where there was a lot less weight given away because of no shortage of heavies.
Wrestling was to grow and peak over the next 4-5 years. For me truly the Golden Age.
Love your contributions.
