BILLY JOYCE often Stated That he had No Interest in Tag Wrestling!-He didn't think it Suited his Style
and Almost Exclusively Preferred Solo Combat!
But Just Very Occasionally you'll find him 'Participating'!!-For Reasons best known to Himself for
'Going against the Grain'!!
Below We have 2 Such Examples Both at MADELEY STREET BATHS in HULL:-
Curiously on The 1966 Bill-He Partners HANS STREIGER!!-which I Think is an Odd Pairing??
On The 1965 Bill he's in a Combo with IAN CAMPBELL!
BOTH of These Wrestlers just don't seem the Best Choices for Me and I can't help but Wonder
if BILLY was 'Persuaded' to go along with This??
Can RON find ANY Examples of BILLY JOYCE Tagging in the Early 1960's at all??
By 1966-he was Coming into his Final Year of Tenure as BRITISH HEAVYWEIGHT Champion-
So Moving into The Twilight Years of his Career-Although a Few Short Years after this he did
Capture The BRITISH LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT Title!!

Did Billy Joyce ever really win the Light-heavyweight title?
If you mean was there a title match, then certainly. He beat Tony Charles in Blackburn.
If it’s still around, there is a glimpse of Billy J. tagging in Japan, on YouTube.
This is my first comment from a mobile phone. I hope to read like Paul Mitchell.
So all very well you northerners whining and whingeing about unsuitable partners. Who would in fact have worked?
Jack Fallon?
Burly Barry on a Relwyskow bill?
Tug Holton?
The trouble with selecting tag partners is that we just get sucked into looking for an identical twin. Which shouldn’t be the criterion at all.
Tiny tiny picky (me?) point of order. Did Billy Joyce ever really win the Light-heavyweight title? He certainly never lost it. That entire reign is worthy of a book in itself and tells us everything about professional wrestling. Well, a bit.
This predictive text is great. The above comments are far more perceptive than anything I had in mind.
These tags do look like one of your rarities MM. I think Campbell an odd Joyce but I can see Streiger and Joyce working, both very forceful characters and uncompromising in the ring. Sometimes I think we give the promoters too much credit for actually giving much thought to the bills they put together. Or it may beave been that if Relwyskow were bottom of the pecking order for choosing their wrestlers that week this was the best they could do. Sam Evans might have made a better partner for Campbell, but then I can't see Masambula working with Billy Joyce.
Couple of very early examples , but 3 man tag , super rare MM
