A group of owls is called a parliament. Well we've had Dark Owl, White Owl, Grey Owl
They caused a lot of confusion some time back. Apologies if this brings back troubled memories for those who sorted things out last time.
Dark Owl.
Heritage member Raven ended the frustration by announcing that he was present at the Victoria Hall, Hanley, on the night the masked Count Bartelli defeated and unmasked Dark Owl as Ernie Riley. There have been rumours that Ernie's father, Billy Riley, was the original Dark Owl, and this seem to be confirmed in the Bartelli book.
White Owl
It's well documented and we know for certain he was Micky Flack who met a tragic end.
Grey Owl
Grey Owl was on a Main Mask poster and I don't think we know anything about him.
Brown Owl
When I came across a reference to Brown Owl I thought I'd found a second one of that colour. Then I looked in the A-Z and can't find one.
So is my Brown Owl a new Parliamentary addition?
This is what I found. A news report in the Cheshire Observer, 29th October 1949, of the death of William Thomas of Lower Cottage, Manley, a wrestler known as "Farmer Bob Thomas" and later "Brown Owl."
I can't find any references to a Brown Owl but around 20 matches in Ray's list for Bob Thomas.
Can we make progress on Brown Owl?
Thanks for confirming my findings Ron.
