Can't wait for the lack of bladder control to kick in! I guess I must have slowed down a bit but can' say I feel old just yet. My son is a pro boxer and personal trainer so the house is full of exercise equipment which I like to use, walking the dog, swimming etc so its all good but my downfall is a massive sweet tooth.
Rocco file sounds good Adrian, and nothing like a bit of Billy Connolly to keep me laughing. ;)
Some very inspiring stories on here that have made me feel very young at 57, even if I am thinking of getting rid of all the mirrors in the house as every time I walk past one I jump out of my skin thinking some old man has broken in!
The body hair goes a bit wild as you get older too, nobody warned me about that one! and the amount of times I walk into a room and actually remember what it was I went in there for are getting fewer by the day. I like to test myself now and then by timing how long it takes me to get out of a bean bag and how much noise I can make just getting out of bed.
Outside our normal "area", but it was reported today that Jerry Lawler will put his career on the line in a match next January. He turns 70 on November 29. Some of you may recall that he went into cardiac arrest at the commentary desk during a live WWE "RAW" broadcast in 2011 and was clinically dead for about 20 minutes.....
I think both Buddy Ward and Jack Cassidy wrestled in their 70's, but as one offs, Adrian Street was probably wrestling much older than most, in an ongoing basis.
Buddy Ward reckoned he was 75 when he wrestled Johnny Saint. But that was a one off unlike Kellett, Bartelli, Pedro the Gypsy and others who carried on working until late in life. Dave Kidney was said to be 78 when he was featured wrestling on the BBC
I am sure Jonny Saint and Brian Maxine both wrestled in their 70's and not just one offs, i mean regualar appearances. But of course we are relying on the assumption that wrestler gave a true age, so who knows?
Cheers guys, nice to know many were still doing their thing in their later years. Just goes to show that if you take care of yourself and aren't too unlucky with your health there's no need to be too concerned about age. I think its fair to say that those of us who remember those great days have all seen a fair few years but I don't think we're quite ready to move out off the way just yet.
Take a look at the forum topic of "Dave Kidney". This is really something.
How else would they come up with four international bouts?
Les Kellett as the Scottish Middleweight Champion. Where to begin ...?
Yes he's from Dundee. Ten years ago there was a BBC documentary. I hadn't heard of him at the time. I found a few references to him.
The documentary is not on You Tube, but I did find this

On the face of it Dave Kidney looks to be a Scot.
Dave Kidney was mentioned earlier. Does anyone know anything about him. We've seen him on a few bills but not many.

What are you youngsters moaning about.?
In another 30 years you will be used to the aches and pains, slowing down ,lack of bladder control etc, etc !

Yeah ...I love getting older.
I think that Lou Thesz was 73 and post a hip replacement when he gave it one last shot. The match is on YouTube I think.

Johnny Saint wrestled his last match in 2015, he would have been 73/74
Both "Romeo" Joe Critchley and Buddy Ward wrestled to quite a ripe old age I believe.
Hey Adrian, looking forward to it Mate, As long as supporting that daft ass team of ours hasn't finished us both off before then!
Arsenal FC the only team who could score 9 goals at Anfield and still lose the match!

Joe Reid was born in 1905 and I can remember him wrestling in 1962-3, so he would have been 57-58
when I last saw him. He could also have continued later, but this I don't know.
Cheers
Kendo Nagasaki was in his late 60s when he did his last bouts with LDN. Ditto Johnny Saint.
