Just hit a moment of logic on Wild Tarzan and the HUNTERS
Jack Hunter goes home in April 1940.......Wild Tarzan continues in Britain.
Bill Hunter can be found wrestling in Canada on and off all through the 1940's. I looked at August 1943 while he was there. During that Time Wild Tarzan was still busy in Britain.
I sampled other dates as well.
One last thought on Ridyard , The various Tarzans were confusing and the promoter wanted to be clear so advertised Ridyard.
I think Jack Ridyard was a local Lancashire man , possibly a miner.
It ain't clear but Wild Tarzan was not one of the Hunters.
I can't disagree , I am actually more confused than ever. I thought I had proved that they were two different men , but Jack Hunter has killed that as I don't have Bill Hunter and Wild Tarzan on the same bill , only Jack and Wild Tarzan.
Jack Ridyard is on a lot of bills , what else can it mean other than it is true. And yet we never find out any more.
I even have one more confusing piece of data.
I have shipping data for William Hunter going Southampton to New York in 1937 (Queen Mary)
In 1948 he does Southampton to new York again with his wife (Queen Elizabeth)
In 1951 he does Southampton to Quebec with wife and young son (Scythia)
On each journey his age equates to 1913 or 1914 for birth. The first time he was London based and the others Manchester.
Here is the thing though.
In 1940 I have a wrestler Lambert Hunter LIverpool to Montreal (Duchess of Bedford) birth 1913
and he is travelling with a Jean Hunter born circa 1890 with Wrestler sort of rubbed out. They were also Manchester based.
So do we have two Hunter Wrestlers and are they second generation.
So is Lambert Hunter going home in April 1940 actually the brief bills we have for Jack Hunter. I show him in November and December 1939.
Thanks Osttie.
I agree that the big question is whether or not Billy Hunter and Jack Hunter were one and the same. We know that Bill Hunter's name was William but haven't found a Jack Hunter other than on wrestling posters. So Ron has ruled out Wild Tarzan being Jack Hunter. He could be Billy Hunter though. If Bill or Jack are different. But then where does Jack Ridyard fit in?
Ron, is there any part of the summary in this week's newsletter that you disagree with?
Tarzan Tourville is better known as Tarzan Tyler, who had a good career in North America.
Tarzan Tourville was a much later Tarzan.
The earliest seemed to be brief and I wonder if he dropped the surname out , As early as 1932 we had Tarzan Tim Teasdale.
I can tell you for sure that Wild Tarzan was not Bill Hunter. He is however almost certainly Tarzan the Wild.
I have a bill to show you with Jack Hunter and Wild Tarzan on it and a second one where they are together in team wrestling. But of course is Jack Hunter and Bill Hunter the same !!!!
Also there was a young Tarzan who was said to be the brother of Wild Tarzan.
I think wild Tarzan was a Lancashire man. he worked a lot with Lew Faulkner.
And TARZAN THE WILD!!............FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH 1938 KINGS HALL BELLE VUE!!
