Rex Gable - not sure where else to post this, but have found results for him touring Morocco and Algeria in 1936, with a troupe of wrestlers headed up by Wladek Zbyszko . Definitely an early globe trotter, for one of our lads. He was billed on the tour as "From England", which we know is correct, rather than Australian or Canadian or anything else that they used to bill him as, over here.
Graeme Cameron also mentioned another Australian, Hughie Santell. Santell was variously billed as being from Northern England or Scotland but actually was born and grew up in Melbourne. Where the confusion arose was that his parents were Scottish immigrants and at the age of 19 in 1922, he went to Lancashire where he learned and competed in that style. The first record of him in Australia is 1931 but an article records that he wrestled professionally in the UK, Europe and New Zealand prior to this. There'sa challenge for any of us to find him in the UK.
Yes, these lists come round again every few years.
The one with the most billings from Australia must be Alan Garfield over 10+ years.
Mark Anthony sticks with me as I got his autograph.
The big name in Australia through the years I lived there was an Austral-Italian, billed as an Anglo Italian, called Mario Milano. He was from the same area in Italy as Primo Carnera. But I don't think he wrestled in his native continent.

Ray Fury and many years later Heffernan's proteges, Lofty Pickford and Dazzler Dunlop.
We haven't mentioned Frank Hurley.
One of the earliest and best was George Pencheff , although Bulgarian born , became Australian and wrestled as one.

As I said before, billed as Australian, but we all know about the promoters now.
Bill Coverdale, Rex Gable, Dennis Dean, Roy Heffernan.
The list goes on.
Where is Anglo?
Digger Nolan (real name Colin Purssey), who is now a country and western singer. I think he was Australian (and Marty Jones said he was).
Bob McMaster, Kangaroo Kennedy, Otto Acron
Maurice La Rue
Bill Verner was another.

That's very clever Romeo and Hack. Both name one and leave the 30 or 40 others to fill in.
I don't know how many of the wrestlers billed at Newcastle as Australian were Australian,(and that may apply to others.)
But I could name at least 8 from memory, that I saw.
There must be at least 40. Did Anglo do a list at one time?
Equally obvious Ray Hunter
