Hi Hack, I have a newspaper proof (of a wrestling advertisment) for a show from the London & Essex Guardian from 1958. I can't seem to find this newspaper online. Do you know anything about it?
Ruslan has answered the question before me Ost. I haven't any access to The Guardian so can't help, but there is a Guardian archive
what upsets me the most is that THERE IS NOT SINGLE PICTURE of the most important trophy in British pro wrestling history of twentieth century. the original Lord Mount Evans British heavyweight champ belt!!! so sad.
A good find Ruslan. Interesting as this was at the Free Trade Hall whilst the following night there was the usual Belle Vue show. Dick Rogers was still running Belle Vue in 1955 and it looks like Joint were muscling in, ready to take over Belle Vue the following year.
One non wrestling point. The article is labelled "The Guardian." There was no Guardian in 1955, it was (as the second piece shows) The Manchester Guardian. It changed it's name in 1959.
