Salford's Bill Connor never gets a mention. He wasn't around long by wrestling standards, probably about ten years at the most, but he always gave a good performance. I've no idea how old he was but didn't seem in the first flush of youth in the late 1960s; a well worn face I would say. Well worn but often with a grin. He was on the tele a few times against both Royals and Alan Wood. I've no idea if he is still with us. have heard nothing about him since his wrestling days. Strange how some are remembered so often but some don't get a mention. Anyone else remember him? Let's hear it for Bill.

No autograph, unfortunately:
Bill was skilled to a degree he couldn't use in most bouts,he amateur class was evident, was adept at ensuring others got the heat accolades .nice guy I can remember his snowy river memories to this day.always a bit heavy on the arm levers but great to go in with. Oh and a Salfordian when we had Lancashire accents
Bill Connor was in the Who's Who of Wrestling. As an ardent autograph hunter, he was the wrestling equivalent of an extinct species for me. All hope of getting all autographs fizzled out due to the likes of Bill Connor and, the at least intriguingly gap-toothed, Yorky Walker.
Hard to get up any steam of enthusiasm for Bill Connor 55 years later.
Up to those of you who saw him to champion his cause.
(Please, nobody tell me you have the Bill Connor autograph, I couldn't handle that.)
Thanks Main Mask. By the late 1960s of these posters Golden Boy and Jumping were the most unsuitable nicknames for Marino and Hussey.

He did go over on pound pom and came back when his sister died. Trained at the Manco and then the Y club. Coached the seniors and more importantly the kids, who produced British amateur champions. Great father and best friend, truly missed
The 5th November 1936 Salford born Bill Connor died in 2005 in Leeds.
If that birthday is in the Who's Who of wrestling then I think this is our man.
Seen him at Liverpool 1970's versus Mike Jordan billed as Bull Carter.Good solid pro with plenty of technical skill.
I knew Bill in the amateurs first of all where he competed at a good level for many years before turning pro. He used to turn up at the YM in Manchester to pull around with the regulars. I cannot remember which club he belonged to I then came into contact with him when I joined the pro ranks on Wryton and Jack Atherton's shows. He was a very good, skillful wrestler and a very good lad to get along with. Eddie Rose
That's our boy Ron. The Who's Who of Wrestling gives a date of birth without the year. The 1939 Register lists your 1936 William Connor living at New William Street, Droylsden, born on that same date. Then again using the Who's Who as a starting point there's a record of his marriage. They had children. Maybe one will go searching for dad and get in touch.
Well , I hope this helps but even over several decades only one William (H) Connor was born in Salford in 1936. His dad another William and a builders labourer. Mother Florence.
But here is the thing , yes a short career but for sure must have know Paul Bkendo1.
Come on Paul do tell.
