Another one I always enjoyed watching. I remember him as quite a hard heel originally but he seemed to mellow over the years and played more on his camp act. I seem to recall he had a hairdressing business too (although I could be wrong about that)
Is he still with us?
im sure he had his own lorries, i followed him to Germany on my first trip out there
Certainly one of the most impressive wrestlers over a sustained period of time
Bobby Barnes was a great wrestler. He would pull certain moves or holds out of the bag, and really impress the audience.
1968 footage of the early Hells Angels, before any prancing around, merely blond:

I really hope this part is true (from above)
He was alive and well and I was told "He has many business interests and is extremely wealthy, travelling the world."
I always want to think that our lads from the Golden Age did well. I know in Adrian Street's books, he mentions buying property in Manchester, I seem to think Bobby was involved with that?, I also remember a very "shady" business opportunity they had in Paris.
Anyway, glad to hear Bobby is well.
Yes he got the balance right between showmanship and wrestling
I can remember Bobby Barnes when he was very much a "blue eye" and he did not make much impression. This changed when he adopted a more aggressive style, and of course went on to form a highly successful partnership with Adrian Street. He seemed to improve with age and never failed to make an impression. A really great wrestler and entertainer.
If you look at Bobby in the 1950's I think he would have been quite pleased at where he got to.
He will always be very well remembered if for no other reason than a reasonable number of his matches are still available unlike other wrestlers with no matches at all surviving
Last I heard was in March last year when I was chasing up Bobby Barnes for a potential interview but sadly he didn't want to revisit his wrestling days. He was alive and well and I was told "He has many business interests and is extremely wealthy, travelling the world."
It was a kneedle match
We kneeded thatt.
Only if it's promoted by knee joint promotions
A very enjoyable wrestler. Although he was always in the shadow of Adrian I'm sure he could have made it all by himself. Maybe even bigger as a singles wrestler.
I'm looking forward to the Bad Boy v Powerlock Knee Match.
I hope Bobby's knee job went well. I am sure he had at least one hairdressers. Maybe his portfolio was diverse.
He has some fine matches on You Tube
Thanks Adrian, will take a look.
We have parallel threads with both our own Powerlock and Beautiful Bobby having knee replacements.
I recall some mention of him owning a supermarket?
