my interest is in the trophy those two great champs wrestled for.

The cup Clark won in 1931 at the final match v A. Oakeley.

Was there any mention of this Silver Cup at the time Clarke beat Oakeley? Would the Yorkshire fans known or have cared. Yes I am sceptical of all this nonsense, but for good reason.Just because a cup is mentioned we shouldn't just believe it existed. Even if it did, less so that the same cup made its way to Yorkshire.

Yes, it did exist, it was 50 guineas worth silver cup was awarded to Douglas Clark after he won British Pro Catch as catch can Championship tourney defeating Atholl Oakeley in the final. Yes in fact Clark often took that trophy with him to his matches, I am not sure whether he was defending it or not, and yes it was put on exhibition at those venues for public views.
