Another wrestler I enjoyed watching but don’t know too much about. I know he also had a career as a country singer although I never heard his music and I remember the headgear that was rumoured to be keeping his wig in place yet I think I’m right in saying he stoped wearing it after a while so maybe it wasn’t a syrup after all. Is he still with us? What’s known about him? and did you enjoy watching him?

Brian was a special guest at the Wrestling Lunch in Watford in August and celebrated his birthday with many of his former coleagues. He remains well and thoroughly enjoyed his day with everyone.
I met Brian in the 60s and he gave me a signed photo. I remember he was a nice chap and nothing like the character he portrayed in the ring.
We’re you temped to ask if you could wear it?
As stated above Brian comes to the Kent Reunion every year and will be there again this year. As always Brian is happy to talk to everyone and always tells us how much he has enjoyed the day. A few years ago Brian brought his title belt with him and was happy to pose for a pic with it.
Three-minute rounds in Blackpool? I bet there were a few draws on that card.
A shame The Catweazles got cut off . I can't imagine who the partner was - maybe the toad?
A strength of Maxine was his versatility, every bout was different.
Quite an impressive bill from good ole Fairfield. Kendo, Adrian, Bobby Barnes and Brian Maxine all in the same evening. Not a bad night out at all.
Yo Adrian! It’s me Rocky! I’m good thanks, enjoying my new life here in not so sunny Nuneaton and most definitely NOT missing London.
Yes, Brian was always a good solid performer and great to watch. I remember him having a right ole spat with Jon Cortez and also a few good matches with Catweazle which were surprisingly competitive. Good to hear he’s still around and thanks for the posters, I don’t know where you get so many!!
Hope all is good with you n yours.
And he threw crowns, too. It was all very novel at the time.
That 12-Man Belle Vue tournament is bugging me. Ct Bartelli and tiddly Dennison in the same event ... and twelve players ... as bad as the awful Dale Martin sixers.
Why oh why not just let Bartelli and the Bulldog get on with it in a singles bout; and Jack who I mentioned yesterday also in another. 8 entrants works meaningfully.
I love those Brid posters, Geo del Rel knew how to promote. And I do believe that's the first time I've seen Kellett v Maxine.
Thanks for sharing.
Brian is certainly still with us and can be talked to every year at the Kent Reunion.
