Recently the Formidable CHINESE Heavyweight LEOW KWONG SENG was discussed
a Wrestler from the late '40's-early '50's after he appeared on one of my SINGAPORE
Wrestling Programmes Featured in my Forum Topic- TARDIS TRAVELS-BEFORE
BARTELLI!
But as far as I know LEOW never came to EUROPE!
The FIRST CHINESE Heavyweight to come to BRITAIN arrived in the very early 1960's!
P.Y.CHONG was a 'Cunning' Heavyweight not averse to using any Tactics to Win and
seemed to 'Relish' inflicting Pain on his Luckless Adversaries!
Hailing from PEIPING he was Acclaimed in AMERICA and the FAR EAST as the
'Communist Champion'-Not particularly big this 'Oriental Menace' was more than Capable
of meting out a Hard and Robust Offence!-whilst remaining Typically 'Inscrutable'!!
CHONG seemed to disappear from our Shores after just one short Tour!
Photo to follow!

I can't find any evidence of him actually wrestling in Britain, can anyone?
The Wrestler magazine told us that he was the "Chinese Communist Champion." They were even good enough to tell us he was born in Beijing (they used the old variation of Peiping) and had "the cunning skill associated with Oriental wrestlers."
As would be expected the reality was a bit more mundane. He was born Harry Watanabe in Hawaii in 1927. He was based in Tennesse for his career, which lasted until 1981. He was also known as Ty Chong and Tojo Yamamoto. Died in 1992.
Blow me! Yet another example of how promoters rehashed names from decades before.
In this case Ahmet Chong, the Scourge of the East in 1974, even had the same outfit.
I hope P.Y. was better because Ahmet was dire. I vaguely recall he was from Burma but the Crabtrees' grip on world geography restricted him to being billed from "The East". Probably a Peruvian at the end of the day like so many "Orientals".
