It is now eighty five years since the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. In on this day there is a bill from Australia for Coronation night. Are there any bills from the UK for this day?
@Riot Squad here is my observation, when they were scheduling "coronation events" what did matter was a coronation year not a particular day, coronation day. They had a huge coronation international wrestling tourney in London in both styles catch (freestyle) and greco in June 1902!!! do you recall any coronation held in June 1902? Even though it was originally scheduled to be held in June it happened in August, but no one changed the date of world wrestling championship because of that. So yeah, when it comes to sports coronation status is about the coronation year.
@ruslan-pashayev The Coronation of 1902 was due to take place 26 June but was postponed at two days notice because King EdwardVII had an emergency operation for an abdominal cyst.In fact many of the events planned for 26 June 1902 went ahead as planned because it was too late to cancel and a service took place in St Pauls Cathedral for the foreign delegations unable to return in August because of the long travel times in 1902.This would be the same for the wrestlers in the tournament. All ready in London and not able to return in August therefore the tournament went ahead
Considering it was a public holiday it is surprising there were no events in the UK
Peter's point is sound. No mention of that Coronation in UK; seemingly higher profile in the Antipodes?
There was an outdoor show in Nelson, New Zealand. I have a photo somewhere.
A good find Ron. But I bring bad news. The show was cancelled due to bad weather.
Had to dig deep to find
