a year or two back a friend of mine who is a West Bromwich Albion fan wanted to go and watch the Baggies play Preston North End. Now I'm not sure how these things work in proper sports but there was some limit to tickets. So he phoned Deepdale to buy the tickets and was asked if he was a genuine North End supporter. "Of course, have been since I was a boy," replied my good Methodist friend.
"Very good sir, before I proceed with the sale can you tell me the make of pies we sell at the ground?"

It's a bit like pasties.
When you say "pasties", most people think of Cornwall and Cornish Pasties.
When you go and watch Bolton Wanderers play football at their home ground, half of the ground is sponsored by a local pastie company, Carrs, so as well as Cornish Pasties, I guess "Bolton Pasties" must be a thing, in Lancashire?

Having said that, I will mention that Matey is not misguided in his recommendations. When I was a kid we had two chippies, one sold Greens pies and a really greasy place selling Hollands. The queues (in those days when we had queues at chippies) were always at the Hollands one - and it wasn't for their greasy fish and chips. Hollands Steak and Kidney Puddings also recommended.
Stick to the wrestling (or close to it).

Ive been enjoying Hollands Pies for over 65 years. There’s nothing to beat devouring the warm meat pie and savouring the delicious jelly gravy as the pastry crust falls apart on being bitten into.
In fact, all their pies and puddings are outstanding.
