In the late 80s in and around the Norfolk scene I 'm pretty sure heavyweight Dave Daring wrestled as The Mummy...later the outfit got used by a Norwich wrestler Johnny Silver. Dave might have been one of the East Anglian versions on the posters, but not sure. he did a fair bit in masks, took on Rocco at king's Lynn as maybe the Assassin....and in early 90s tagged with Suffolk wrestler Cloin Craig, both under masks as part of Dale Martins shows and daddy tags. They may have been called the Invaders ?
Kowalski and Elrington's nephew make for a handy Portsmouth link, sharing the Mummy outfit.
'I remember seeing someone on a bill near Great Yarmouth called the Mummy taking on Danny Lynch'
In the late 1970's/early 1980's Jackie Pallo promoted shows in Gt Yarmouth and The Mummy often featured. Was this the same man? He would stand motionless in his corner until the bell rang.
I remember he partnered The Wildman of Borneo in tag against Pallo and Son and when they lost, he and The Wildman turned on each other! Very entertaining!
I remember seeing someone on a bill near Great Yarmouth called the Mummy taking on Danny Lynch
I remember seeing The Masked Mummy at a Brian Dixon show in Solihull in the mid 70s and on that occasion it was John Kowalski. Obviously it couldn't have been him at The Liverpool Stadium show which shows Kowalski as the opponent.
I believe that Tarantula is/was son-in-law of Bruno Elrington.
John/Caulkhead
Yes the very same
Gee, he was absolutely covered in tattoos.
Big boy, though.
Was lovely to us all on here a few years ago.
Mummy/Tarantula is on FB and shares lots of neat old posters & photos.
Another one flushed out then. !!!
Thanks bkendo.
Manager C.J. Percival was my long time wrestling friend Ian Dowland. In the 1960s Ian was one of those fans I swapped results and programmes with. Another was Neil Evans, who became Tom Thumb, and another was Philip Howlin, who sent me Liverpool programmes to drool over.
It was indeed Hack
I have also found out that Jock " Jack " Ruddock wrestled as The Mummy , Dr.Death , Black Angel , and Black Scott.
The presence of manager Percival makes me think this was our Tarantula friend Alan Turner.
This mummy from the south coast
There has been several " Mummy;s " in the past , and could this one be Wayne " Lofty " Pickford , as he used that gimmick in Australia .
BY my reckoning it's 1977 and the Mummy is at Liverpool a dozen times or more in a couple of years.
Not exclusive to Liverpool though I have a few here. At Kings Lynn he even has a manager.
Could it still be the same mummy as late as 1995 at Hanley below.
He/IT Won't go away-This Horrific MASKED MUMMY!-This Time in Solo
