Junior Heavyweight Champion as I have seen him described, He would have been well matched with some of our top heavyweights of the day Wall, Portz, Robinson, Joyce, Mitchell, Howes etc. RIP Danny Hodge
Dan losing the gold medal match in the 56' Olympics was one of the biggest soviet screw jobs in modern Olympic history. Dan also was only the second person ever to win amateur wrestling(NCAA Div 1) and boxing(Golden Gloves) championships in the same year
Thanks Bill. Sad news. Danny Hodge was one of those I read about in the 1960s when the American magazines arrived in our newsagents weeks after publication. Most of those we read about were larger than life characters with blood pouring from their forehead in a way we couldn't imagine on a Joint Promotions show.
Danny Hodge was different.
He seemed to be a proper wrestler. The sort we knew. The question was always how would it go in a match between Mike Marino and Danny Hodge.

I think that in a "real" match Danny would have beaten Mike in around 2 mins.Just my opinion ,in a work Danny would have gone over
