As Hack says, Jim was one of the best and always announced as Lightweight Champion of Scotland.
I saw him wrestle at Morecambe, Preston and many a time on TV, on one occasion tagging with the villainous Chic Purvey against the Royals.
Yes, Gillian, you can be very proud of your Dad and please be assured of the continuing respect and esteem in which he is held by us fans of the “Golden Age” of wrestling.
It's a shame you didn't see your dad Gillian. He was a very good wrestler and wrestled all the big names you have read about - McManus, Pallo, Kidd. The competition amongst the lighter weight wrestlers at that time was immense and your dad was one of the best.
I only saw Jim Mc.Kenzie on TV (in tag with Bill Ross against The Royals from a show recorded in Catterick and in a singles contest against Roger Green) and my only contribution to this thread is that Max Crabtree tended to use his name after he was wrestling in a John Doe capacity billing him when he needed a name to fill in the poster but hadn't at that time booked anyone (or was working one of his silly stunts).
Here you go Ruslan, back cover of The Wrestler, March 1971 issue:
As I mentioned in the Colbeck topic, Alex McKenzie had a Scottish Lightweight title that looked like a belt Colbeck wore. This is from the October 1962 issue of The Wrestler. Alex & Jim = same person? Or different?
So it seems there were at least three designs for this title over the years, as the one in the original post is different from these two.
if anyone has a good quality image of that photo of McKenzie please make a post here in this thread, I would highly appreciate that. thanks to everyone for their feedback. Kind regards, R

:) wish my dad was still here to see that the love for wrestling was still alive !

Sorry I can offer so little.

Scottish Lightweight Champion - wasn't his son on the old forum a while back mentioning that he still had Jim's belt?
