DIDN'T JIMMY BREAKS LIKE TAGGING??

The Masked Challenger, awful name, yet another name of mystery. Who saw him? Who was it behind the mask?

I saw Jim Breaks many times at The Kings Hall, Belle Vue, but only twice in tag. Once was indeed with Mick James as The Breakaways and they faced the new pairing of Jackie "Mr.TV" Pallo and Jackie Pallo Jnr with the father and son team taking the verdict. The main problem seemed to be that Breaks was a rule-bender whereas James was quite a clean, scientific wrestler. When he did try to follow Breaks and put in the occasional fist, it looked forced and unnatural.

Far more successful was Breaks' second tag team outing in which, partnered by Mark Rocco, he faced local heroes Bert Royal and Vic Faulkner. The Royals won.

If I recall correctly, the first mentioned was a Morrell and Beresford promotion and the second an early Crabtree show.

Think this was the bout I saw , the Borgs showed up really well with their speed ,can't be sure but I think maybe they won.

The Breakaways were still going in 1974.

I saw them but could not rate them in a top 8 or so tag teams.

Breakaways seemed to get publicity at the time. Well they were mentioned in the Wrestler. What more could we want. Don't remember seeing them though.

I reckon that both teams are scratch teams, Ted Hannon normally teamed with Chic Purvey and Tom Dowie was a mid heavyweight, generally there was some connection in a tag team, e. g. Locality, size, style etc. I reckon Ron might find some more of these especially relatively early years in his career

Jim did tag though I never witnessed it either, he was part of the Breakaway tag team with Mick James. How long they were together or how many matches they had I honestly haven't a clue
