According to Barry Shearman/Rex Strong Wild Angus Campbell was a Dominic Pye creation. Dominic chose Rex as the first Angus, though it was only for a short time before Frank Hoy took over.
I saw Dominic wrestle just the once, at Lancaster Kingsway Baths in late 1963. He was tagging with "Crafty" Casey Pye (Harry Bennett) against Tony Zale and Angus Campbell, who substituted for Blackburn Roberts. The match ended in a 1 - 1 draw. (Did I read somewhere on the site that Angus Campbell later became Rex Strong?)
On the same bill Bobo Matu beat Bob Sherry and Chief Thunderbird beat Lee Scott. Bill Tunney also featured, but I can't recall the details of his bout. Gerry Hoggarth was referee.
I was talking with Gerry only the other day about Dominic and, like me, he couldn't understand why he wasn't promoted more fully in the sport, having a brilliant physique and great personality. One of wrestling's great mysteries!

Subject of my major disappointment.
I read a lot about him (having seen his dad a few times) but never saw him fight.
