We step outside our usual sphere of interest this week. Dutch Zorra was an infrequent visitor to British shores. Thanks to Graeme Cameron we are now able to uncover the many identities of this Globe Trotting Chameleon.
Heritage documents appearances by Jacob Grobbe (as Dutch Zorra) in 1954 and 1962.
Thanks to Ron I've found him here in 1959 using his real name. I can't find any other references to him in 1959 or using the Grobbe name in Britain at any other time.
Thanks SaxonWolf. We like to get it right, and we like to think most of the time we do. But those of us who have contributed to the success of Heritage (that's people like you Saxo) know it's sometimes like knitting fog. Graeme has gone back to his original research and your correction will be included in this week's update, along with part 2 of the Zorra story, which we suspect you will like.
Great stuff. I think he was best known in the USA as Hans Mortier, and was joined for a time (in tag team action) by the equally large and muscular French wrestler, Gil Voiney, as his "brother", Max Mortier.
In later years, he was English aristocratic villain, Sir Charles (sometimes Lord Charles) Montague.
The only discrepancy I can see, in the story linked above, is that it says he went to the USA in 1946, unless I am misreading (I could be), because I can see results for him, wrestling in Switzerland, in 1947.
