Entrance music wasn't really a thing in my day. A rarity. The first time I came across it was around 1965/6. It was the entrance of The Undertaker (the original, not the masked pair. The Undertaker and his assistant carried a full sized coffin to the ring to the tune of the Funeral March (naturally). A bit later I saw Terry McDonald (of Manchester) enter to Scotland the Brave (of course).
That was about it. Probably a few in the 1970s after Max took over, but none to remember.
My questions:
What was your earliest experience of entrance music?
Did you have a favourite?
Do you think it added anything to the show?
John Quinn entered the ring to 'The Mighty Quinn' by Manfred Mann. I remember Giant Haystacks using 'Another One Bites The Dust' by Queen. By 1993, nearly everyone used entrance music. Dale Broughton / Preston used 'The Best' by Tina Turner and, for some reason, I got sent out to 'Twilight Zone' by 2 Unlimited.
