Have there been any Wrestling Matches in British Rings in which a vastly superior opponent has just grabbed his less experienced opponent done one or two moves then body slammed his opponent for the win all within a minute or less and then left the ring to go back to his changing rooms?

Absolutely dire Anglo Italian. No excuse. When so much was done to preserve the integrity of wrestling as a legitimate sport I can't understand why some things happened. This must have been planned, but why? If either Haystacks or Nagasaki were injured or there was some other legitimate reason the match couldn't take place then a bit of honesty would have left fans disappointed but not totally disillusioned.
One that does intrigue me is far more recent.
Johnny Saint against Buddy Ward's OAP comeback. That ended quickly in the first round. Was that planned? Or was it that Johnny couldn't risk waiting for the planned result and got it over with quickly to be on the safe side?
In fairness, I do remember a show once going on to 10.50 when all other shows at the venue were done and dusted by 10.10. Wish I could recall the details.
Still at the White Rock and possibly the last time I ever went there, in the early 80s. I had been drawn by Haystacks v Nagasaki main event.
Haystacks entered the ring. Nagasaki followed but remained outside at stage level. They remonstarted and insulted each other for about 20 minutes, but Nagasaki never entered the ring and they made no physical contact.
It probably went down as some phoney DDQ, it really doesn't matter (apologies to the late Ray), but the whole audience felt short-changed and I never went again.
Yes this sort of thing was always an anti climax
Hi Peter. re your post.
I remember one night when Norman Walsh was on the last bout in Newcastle. This was unusual as he was a favourite fairly local then.
The previous bouts had run long and when his opponent was Chic Purvey (much lighter) I should have realised that this bout would not go long.
At that time being young I didn't.
Couldn't believe it when Purvey got a pinfall in round 1.
Walsh won by a knockout in round 2 and we were all finished again at the normal time.
Very disappointing for me and the crowd.
I remember a tv match between Roy St Clair and Jim Moser that ended in the first round with Moser dangling with his neck caught in the ropes.
When an event over ran some final matches of the evening were very quick
Klondyke Bill breaking the step as he climbed into the ring, falling and injuring himself (me, sceptical?) ended before he started.
I seem to remember a TV bout with Shirley Crabtree winning within a minute when up against an inexperienced opponent from Derbyshire.
Haystacks v John Cox, the end of which was in the title sequence in the latter days of TV. I also recall an Alan Colbeck KO victory over Al Nicol in about a minute.
Two Max Crabtree promoted TV matches come immediately to mind; Giant Haystacks versus Tony Francis and Sammy Lee versus Ed Wensor. There were also quick endings to John Kowalski versus Klondyke Jake and Jackie "Mr.TV" Pallo versus Zoltan Boscik.
Axel Dieter v Ezzard Hart on the TV. Knockout in less than a minute.
Or do we consider that a work?
