The LEGEND that is KENDO NAGASAKI rightfully stands astride the very Pinnacles
of British Wrestling History/Folklore!
So it was a great sadness and a bitter loss to the Professional Wrestling Business
when he was forced to Retire in late 1978 due to Injury!!
But at this point in time his Legacy was Vaunted and Intact!
But it also meant the loss of a Major Top Draw as well!
But seemingly without giving it any thought at all Greedy Promoters attempted to
'Cash In' on his Great Name and Reputation at the Fan's expense!!
Thus a 'Kendo Nagasaki Mark 2' appeared all of a sudden to 'fill the void'!!
It was short-lived and a Massive Faux Pas!-Wrestling Fans were not pleased to say
the least at this obvious 'Chicanery'!!
But what did the Real KENDO/PETER think?
What did he DO about it as well?
Realising their Blunder-they remodified the Persona bringing in another Wrestler
dressed up as King Kendo-you will note from my lack of Capitals that I don't
recognise EITHER of these Phoneys-
Just a blatant and a failure of an attempt to 'Dupe' Fans which in my view was Pitiful!
Programme to follow!!
MAIN MASK
Nice work Saxo. Awaiting further reports from Yorkshire.
Kendo Nagasaki Mk II was a young lad called Nick, not found the surname yet, but before being landed with the short-lived Kendo Nagasaki Mk II gimmick/persona, he had wrestled as The Kung Fu Fighter, apparently.
Thanks Main Mask. I agree with you and a sign that by the 1980s Joint Promotions could stoop as low as the worst of the independents. Please check, wasn't King Kendo already working for the independents when Kendo Mark II came along.
Fortunately it was a short lived plan, for this much lighter masked man had nothing in common with Kendo Nagasaki other than a name. We have only eleven bouts on record, in a four week period from 22nd December 1979 until 18th January 1980. He failed to appear in at least five of those matches.
maybe you can add yo this info Main Mask?
