Other Visiting Wrestlers from Overseas included Fighters from the Land of the
Cedar Tree the EXOTIC LEBANON in the Middle-East starting to arrive around
1961!
Foremost amongst these was a Heavyweight with Huge Shoulders-known as
THE SHEIK-WADI AYOUB! This Formidable Fighter proved a real handful for our
Top Heavyweights-Tough as Teak-even getting him down was a difficult feat!!
He had Successful Tours over here and was generally Popular with the Fans!
Other 'SHEIKS' were to follow in his Footsteps including Two Wrestling Brothers-
the MANSOURIS who Performed as a Tag Team!
Serving to add some Colour and Theatre to British Wrestling these FIGHTERS
FROM LEBANON helped to keep the Sport Fresh and Interesting and some were
better than good!
Did Anyone see these SHEIKS Wrestle?
Photos/Posters/Programmes to follow!
MAIN MASK
We had a long discussion about various Sheiks years ago, pre Heritage I think. Not Lebanese but I am reminded of Sheikh Michael Taylor. Does anyone remember him? Lying on a bed of nails and having knitting needles pushed through his cheeks.
Meanwhile. from Main Mask
The Mansour Brothers
Sheik Wadi Ayoub
Sheik Cas El Suri
Sheik Youseff Tannous wrestled over here in the 60's.
