A northern favourite for a quarter of a century it was great to meet Frank Robb at the Blackpool Reunion. He's cropped up years ago in our chat, but does anyone have any memories of Frank?
Frank Robb is a native of Newcastle upon Tyne and as such he was an almost permanent fixture at St James Hall during the sixties. Either as a wrestler, usually appearing in the first bout of the evening, or just as a member of the audience in a very low key profile observing the action from the walkway beside the confectionery shop downstairs in the Hall. I have seen it suggested that he was on hand to take the place of any no-show wrestler but I never saw this put into practice as it was seldom at Newcastle a billed wrestler didn’t make an appearance. On one occasion when I nipped up to the Hall mid - week during my lunchtime to drop my newly washed white coat in or something similar Frank was dressed in his wrestling gear (white trunks, boots and jacket) so presumably he did his training at St James’ too.
I'm bringing this back up in the hope that Les, John or Jim might see it and ask Frank.
Just read about Frank Robb. I didn't know of him before he was mentioned on WH.
Obviously a safe pair of hands to have at the ringside if someone did not turn up.
As a sideline----Please can anyone tell me when the wrestling training sessions started at St. James Hall? and if possible, who took them?
We've added our tribute to Frank Robb in Personality Parade

His autograph is among my collection
Not sure. Should be. He's very much alive.
Is he on our 1950's list.
