Here's a name I see as a regular visitor from Paris on UK bills of the fifties and sixties. He must have been good to keep coming back.
He had a brother, Jo, who, from memory, no-showed at the Albert Hall.
I haven't seen Georges on any of the many youtube bouts of French wrestling - perhaps because he was always in Britain!
Anyway, I'm spotting Georges on Southern bills. Does anyone know if he wrestled anywhere else?
Thank you.
Which poster, Peter?
In his main event match versus Tibor it is last on the poster.
This practice of putting the main event last showed great confidence by the promoters that the fans would read the entire poster.
He must be one of the most frequent proper foreign visitors.
Yeah!-And Note ANGLO!-GEORGES was 'An Ex Stunt Man'!!
MM
Great find Main Mask.
I have to confess that in this second bout that Hack found the commentator - not Couderec, this one's an oaf - clearly articulates Georges's name as GEO. (like JAYO). So maybe there was only one.
But I am not alone at being confused because I clearly remember reference to his brother Jo Geuret 55 years ago. At the time I recall wondering who Georges was! But maybe the British guys were confused then as I am now.
As for your Roger, on a JP bill after all, it looks like our usual excuse of the name getting garbled over the phone.
Seems like Georges was a Three-in-One!
He's a rather good Yearsley type, isn't he?
You'll Still be Confused ANGLO!!.....
Below at HULL in 1960 We Find ROGER GUERET!!??##

How Many of These GUERETS were there???

Thanks Ron,
It's a nice bout but this is indeed the confusion I have.
The commentator calls him Jo Geuret more than 50 times. I think this is the brother.
Geuret is wrestling here as Mr X.
The video may be wrongly captioned.
Wrestling history is riddled with mistakes, after all.
Only Dale Martins bills Anglo (1958-1965) but quite a few matches on youtube.
