I think there's a printing error or typo where it says the audience for the Saturday and Wednesday broadcasts was "4.5 million respectively". I suspect there should be two figures listed there, with a higher one for Saturday and then 4.5 million for Wednesday.
Also slightly sceptical of the suggestion that shows averaged six matches. The only way that makes sense is if you are specifically referring to shows recorded for TV.
That‘s Les in the picture. The article is from the time of his McManus feud, and his leotard is unmistakeable. Kilby would have dwarfed McManus and probably never wrestled him.
Who is the unnamed wrestler with the nursing home? Lincoln?
Good to see Billy Dale.
Were any of these interviews ever real or all just invented by the author?
A fascinating article which shows how mainstream Pro Wrestling was in 1970.Nevertheless full of embellishments and exaggerations of the injuries these wrestlers received.
Nice snip of info in the Kellett article saying that Joe Hill wrestled as Mazurka. I always wondered who Mazurka was. It's not in the A-Z so maybe that's a find.
During the autumn and winter in the days of just two TV stations the figure was probably nearer ten million for Saturdays

Kwango fluent in four languages ….😂
I really enjoyed this. It was one of those pieces to take me back.
But it was a perspective of wrestling according to Dale Martin. It's clear how much editorial control they had over this piece.

Brilliant stuff. I enjoyed reading that.

It's not Les. Alan Kilby?
I agree with you Bernard, but it looks to be from the same match as the first photo, and there it does look like Les.
See the photo on the last page.
Am I the only one who thinks that it isn't Les ?
