Harry Wilson

Need a little help with this one...

Under the trivia section for great British character actor Harry Wilson (Wizard of Oz, Some Like It Hot, All the King's Men and so many more greats) it states that he was a Professional Wrestler. I never knew this nor can I find any supporting evidence.

Does anyone know this to be either true or false?

Very curious about this one...

@Hack Thanks Hack pleased I could find something on him, but couldn't find any results for him but that's almost certainly down to the lack of records kept for anything other than championship matches at that time.

He served in the US merchant navy during WW1 and took up wrestling after leaving the navy before moving onto Hollywood his wrestling training came in handy for action and fight scenes. Any wrestling records for him would have to start from before 1920 .

He was in the USA by his 20s appearing in silent films, it almost a guarantee that any wrestling he did would have been in the USA possibly in the same area as the film studios as a lot of his work was bit parts or uncredited roles, so I would imagine he could supplement his film earnings in the wrestling ring.
