1.Bobby Barnes never being a champion.
2.Kendo briefly unmasking and wrestling clean (what was he thinking???)
3.Tony Walsh and Daddy not having that real fight we were promised.
4. That stupid disco ladder match Kendo and Clive Myers/ Iron fist took part in on Kendo’s return to the boards.
5. Any of those ridiculous farcical Daddy tag matches especially the one with some fat masked nobody who was never seen before or after.
And I’m sure you have some of your own ...
Gimick matches with tables, ladders, cages etc. Just too much pandering to the american scene.
Max as ever proving to be about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit ...
My two never have happened that do fit snugly together to create disaster
Morrell bringing back Crabtree
Max taking over as manager of most of the Joint members.
Started watching All Elite Wrestling on ITV 4 some of it is watchable.Impact wrestling is pretty fair too
Such a shame when ITV wrestling and more specifically Greg Dyke, took wrestling off tv. Certain stars, were really starting to make a big impression. Like Richie Brooks, Ian McGregor, Kid McCoy, and Geoff Kerry. Then the plug got pulled. Wrestling was the highlight of everyone’s week, at one stage.
We all got older! Honestly, I loved going to wrestling and could have lived those days forever!
I'd develop Ron's point: it should never have got to the state where it had to be taken off tv.
Joints treatment of Jackie Pallo, they had him running all over the country before he chucked it to set up himself.
Brian Crabtree being allowed to enter the wrestling business.
He should have been left at home to care for the farm
Should never have been took off TV
Catweazle.
Bryan Crabtree as MC.
Andy Robin allowed on tv if he wouldn't travel nationwide.
George Gillette kissing in the ring.
The Outlaw allowed to disappear without unmasking.
I think the Kendo unmasked era was his comeback fight after his first retirement. It was Roger Wells at Fairfield if I remember right and all the Nagasaki mystery and excitement was gone.
Could be that Bobby didn’t want a belt I guess, but who’d not want to be a champion?
Rawlinson v Naylor at the RAH.
Did Bobby Barnes even want to be a Champion?
We know that you didn't have to be a Champ to be top of the bill, and I don't think you got paid anymore for being Champ (someone can remind me or correct me if I am wrong here).
Did being Champ put too much pressure on a Wrestler, in as much as having to turn up on any given night ("sorry ladies and gents, tonight's championship match is off, Bobby Barnes couldn't make it"). Unlike boxers, Wrestlers didn't show up at matches with their trainers, corner men, back stage crew, so you had to do, and remember, everything (arriving at a venue and then,"oh bloody hell, I've left the belt at home!").
Just guesses and speculation on my part.
Kendo unmasking, can't remember if he thought he was going to retire around that point anyway, would have to read his book again.
Disco Ladder Match - yep, agree with that. It doesn't get better with age, does it?
