Gernot Freiburger lives in Vienna and seems to have many contacts but I agree it may all come from the same original source. On the other hand it seems likely the new owners would know if they bought an empty house with no contact with the previous owner
Thanks Peter. I wonder where they got that from? The house was visited last week. Had apparently been empty for some time (a couple of years was mentioned) and the new owners said they'd heard he had died. Seems a coincidence if he has died.
It is announced today on the Facebook page of Gernot Freiburger Catchfans of Bremen-Hamburg-Hannover. Usually reliable on matters pertaining to the European Tournaments
This possibility was discussed a week or so ago, but at the time was rumour based on a comment by the new resident of his house, There was no evidence as we stated at the time. What's the source Peter? The possibility was discussed at the Scottish virtual Reunion. No one had heard anything and that included the Kent Reunion who have lots of contacts. He's turned 86 so it's possible but we would need a good source.
Gernot says that his source is a trusted one. Of course it's quite possible that both are true - he emigrated and has died.
If he has emigrated it seems unlikely he would leave without selling his property
No further news from Germany but we have heard from the son of an ex wrestler friend of Jocks that he had gone to live with his daughter in Canada.
We have emailed Gernot to try and find out more.
