Johnny was often in with Giant Haystacks; one on one, handicap, battle royal and tag matches. They even worked an exhibition match on kids T.V. show, 'Runaround'.
I remember a bout with the Wilson brother, versus Clive Ironfist Myers, and Kwik Kick Lee. The bout ended with Myers being hurled out of the ring over the top rope, and almost landing on poor Kent Walton at ringside. All courtesy of Peter Wilson. Great bout!
Portsmouth has once credited along with Doncaster as having more Professional Wrestlers per head of the population than any other cities of comparable size
I agree with Bill Smith. Not a lot of charisma there. In fact the whole rather dire wrestling scene of the late 1970’s resulted in my losing interest, until the coming of Wrestling Heritage; when one could look back and reflect on a much better earlier era.
the best match i saw was the wilson brothers versus skull murphy and fit finlay and the way peter was massacred finishing him off with skull murphys gator hold
It is strange to admit, but there was one point that devalued his standing in my mind at the time: he too was from the Portsmouth area at a time when Wells, Bruno, Kowalski and Peter Wilson were all too frequently all on the same bill. We became experts on the local geography with locations such as Fareham and Waterlooville.
Certainly more than competent but, in the Viedor mould, required most times to sell the villain's antics. Often Bruno's!
Another fine match now available on several channels versus Roy ST Clair
I watched Johnny Wilson versus Pat Roach, on Youtube in a great bout.
At his best in singles bouts with a well matched opponent

He had a good look and would probably have done in well in the USA, with that physique.

I remember both Peter and Tarzan Johnny Wilson. They were a good tag team.
