Hi All,
I have noticed on a few posts on the forum, mainly from JNLister that there is images of Joint Promotions schedule.
Does anyone have a copy of this they can share or any other schedules from the big touring promoters back in the day?
very intrigued to see how they could work touring 10 plus events a day etc
This will give you some idea, but even this is only a partial picture of what was going on.
These are the listings for January 1965 from The Wrestler magazine. They listed only Joint Promotion shows and it has been found in the past that they are not complete (probably not far off).
In addition there were dozens of independents outside the Joint Promotion organisation. The biggest ones - Paul Lincoln, Don Robinson, Jack Taylor, Cape, Jack Jefferson, Cyril Knowles, would be putting on shows every night, sometimes more than one. Then there were dozens of other independents putting on shows on a more regional basis. As Ron has mentioned in another thread today the independent activity in northern independent rings, especially, Manchester, was enormous. Wrestlers tell of wrestling two or three times on the same night in clubs around Manchester.
Anyway, here are your Joint shows for January 1965.
Very simply organisation and cooperation between the promoters , plus venues in almost every town and city throughout the UK and a pool of around 200 wrestlers who would work in some cases 5 or 6 nights a week meant regular shows for the fans and regular work for the wrestlers.
