Back in the late 1940's-early 1950's there was an ICONIC ARTEFACT in the Annals of
Wrestling Folklore!
A Super-Heavy Hand Dumbbell!!-To Lift it above shoulder level with ONE Hand required
Massive Strength!!
Dozens of very Strong Mat Men tried and FAILED to Achieve this seemingly impossible
Feat!! Just like EXCALIBUR-The Magical Sword that no amount of Strength could pull
from its Rock!-It seemed that No-one could raise this JOWETT DUMBBELL aloft!!
It is said that 156!! Muscle Men had their best efforts denied before the 157TH finally
managed this 'Superhuman' Lift!!
But which Wrestler was it??-WHO lifted the JOWETT DUMBBELL?
I wouldn't have fancied Fighting this Guy!-Doubt if many would have!!
Answer-Photo-Article to follow!!

The ear incident happened in 1952
Hi Adrian, re. your comment on the lift.
Why a one arm curl? A curl does not go above the shoulder, that is a press or a jerk.
It would be interesting to know if this was before or after he lost an ear.
Presumably before.
So.....is there an actual picture of him lifting it above his head?
Sorry to sound skeptical, but this is pro wrestling we are talking about!
Do we have a list of the 156 other people who attempted it?
The picture above is easy to fake; two men grab the dumbbell at each end and list it into position, then get out of the way for the photo to be taken.
Weird. Did anyone see this earlier. I added it about six hours ago. Looked in earlier and SaxonWolf had replied and his reply had appeared above this image. Then it disappeared. Here it is again.
The same Jowett that made automobiles?
Assarati was pretty strong and lifted some huge weights, so they say.
How heavy was it?
