A great name in British wrestling. He's this week's addition to Personality Parade. Definitely a big name in British wrestling for decades, and without him would Paul Lincoln have succeeded.
I remember the one occasion he came to Preston (well, at the time I was watching). It was always exciting to see a wrestler from out of the area. Sadly, not a memorable match.
Keep up with your A-Z boys. Chunky Hayes was quite a character (his wife too according to some stories). Chunky Hayes
He now has some matches on You Tube from Paris in 1957.He is introduced as an Australian and seems a very different wrestler from the Hayes taking on Viedor twenty years later
I can see clearly now , the guy is so famous he had got by me.
Thanks lads.
Yes indeed it was Ost he had form for that.
A bit of a shock today to find Al Hayes Promoting and taking Mick's name in vain.
Yes his match against Viedor is worth watching - buit it may be the only UK bout where he was the villain.
Judo Al Hayes was a brilliant clean wrestler who sold the villains' work magnificently, rather like Viedor himself.
SINISTER heel manager:
His match against Steve Viedor is worth watching on You Tube
I will always remember the first of the Saturday lunch time WWF (as it then was) shows, and the surprise of seeing Judo Al Hayes!
