Kendo Nagasaki will be making an appearance at the iconic Fairfield Halls in Croydon on Sunday 14th April when he will make his case for the return of the Sword of Excellence currently in the possession of LDN Wrestling.
The entire LDN Management team will be in attendance for this show which will also see LDN Head Referee Dave Walker taking charge of the afternoons matches and the legendary MC and Hall of Famer Lee Bamber introducing an array of international stars.
Tickets are still available for this event but are selling fast.
Strange comments indeed. It was obviously Peter Thornley appearing. The big question is why was this advertised as Sanjay confronting Kendo but then that didn't happen and the sword was just handed over. Was there some change backstage as what would happen on Sunday? One of the parties must have had a change of mind.
Matey Dave emailed:
"Most people know i have not much regard for Peter Thornley, really loved Anglo's expression 'Giving him a monkey for 10 minutes work' as it conjured up picture of Peter in a tree house in the Jungle as Tarzan with Klondike Kate as Jane with Cheetah eating bananas. Down south it would have been called a bung, considering the amount of money Peter has can not see him being involved in such a sham. The person playing Peter was a bad actor and that voice was dreadful, no expression feeling, just dead. As for the photo of packed hall, is it the same hall and same event? if it was a taken at the same event then shows how many gullible people there are coughing up at those prices."
I wonder if Matey Dave also thought his alleged actor went to the extent of cutting off his finger to create the illusion for him.
Fans were not gullible. They paid for a night of wrestling, and that's what they got. Judging by the success of LDN over twenty years fans must feel they get value for money. There was no deception, There was never any suggestion that Kendo would be wrestling. The appearance of Kendo Nagasaki was a bonus, not even advertised on the main poster for the event.
We should appreciate that LDN Wrestling acknowledge our wrestling heritage and their engagement in this topic.
Hi a friend of mine said there was a post about the hall being sparse.
It was the biggest wrestling crowd at the Fairfield Halls since the return of Covid 19. The event was sold out in advance by week.
The posters are generic because that’s what sells tickets to the average man on the street why LDN Wrestling has been drawing consistent crowds all across the UK.
There was an online poster used for this show featuring Kendo.
Have a great day
I am surprised at your doubts, Matey Dave. Unquestionably Kendo Nagasaki: the gestures, the accent, even the missing finger.
Great work for an 83-year-old to climb into the ring and trot out the story.
I do agree that the venue looked sparsely populated and just a couple of loud guys tried to create the heat. All the more credit to Kendo Nagasaki for going through with it.
Just watching the video, very hard to relate to the absent guy he calls out, but who doesn't appear. We wanted a face-to-mask confrontation of sorts, didn't we?
This is the first time I (we?) have heard him speak with his mask on. Certainly it diminishes the brand, but if someone was up for giving him a monkey for 10 minutes work, at this point, good luck to him.

I've just watched the video of Kendo Nagasaki in the ring to reclaim some sword.
Was this really Peter Thornley? The voice didn't sound right to me. Listen to the two links. What do you think?

Many would have got excited. Lee Bamber acted with dignity but the rest of the acting seemed amateurish.
Was this in the main hall? It seemed very cramped
Well there was no confrontation,, Sanjay didn't even come to the ring and they just sent someone out to give Kendo back the sword. Kendo speaking seems to destroy the illusion of the character he's spent so long building up.
LDN are a successful and well established company. If they can fill the Fairfield Halls then they must be doing something to satisfy their customers.
But I can't see it from this poster. Mark Reynard's it says nothing comment sums it up.
Maybe it says LDN can't be sure who will turn up on the night. Or they get a good price for posters that can be used in multiple venues.
This is no way of developing name recognition of either main eventers or future stars.
Or maybe we are missing something and Sanjay will give us an insight into this form of marketing.
To think we complain about Max Crabtrees (sic.) posters!
No chance of complaining about a no-show based on this poster.
Kendo returns this Sunday, the 14th April. There are now just 10 tickets left until this show is sold out.
