No Hack, it did not. But what I find interesting is that in Northern Greece they have a traditional wrestling style which shares the rules with my favorite old Lancashire style of wrestling. It is identical, when I watched these 2 videos it brought memories from the countless number of the 1800s newspapers reports on Lancashire wrestling which I read when was researching this subject. Tactics and the holds the wrestlers use are 100% the same. This whole thing fascinates me, especially considering the fact that currently in Lancashire and in England no one wrestles after the Lancashire fashion. This tradition is gone.
Hi Peter, it is in Thrace, Greece. Apparently they wrestle after the old Lancashire fashion, catch as catch can, touch-fall which is 2 shoulders on the ground at the same time, no matter how quick that happened and if the referee saw it, it is a fair back fall.
So can you shed light on the connection Ruslan? Did Lancashire wrestling evolve from a Central European style or vice versa?
Where did these these matches take place?
