Apologies for my repeats, i've been eating cucumber. Don Charles was one half of the original African Kruger tag team that toured here in early 1980. Their bout .V. Big Daddy and Pete Ross is on Youtube. When they faced John Quinn & Rex Strong the Krugers lost 2-1 with Quinn gaining both falls.

Unfortunately so much to wonder about on those Crabtree programmes with phantom names like The Tremorgan Twins, African Rand, The Big Brute and many others who appear here on our programmes but were largely no-shows or disappointments of some kind.
At least ten years earlier the Phantoms really existed and turned up reliably.
Yes Anglo and they also made several claims that never happened. Joint stated that a Canadian called Moose Morowski ( excuse my spelling if incorrect) was to appear on our shores following John Quinn's initial tour of Blighty., never happened. Another was a superheavyweight named The Mighty Antonio would be touring here also., this was another no show, but probably for the best as from what i've read he was unpredictable. There's a contest featuring The Mighty Antonio .V. Antonio Inoki on Youtube. Mighty Antonio refuses to sell to Inoki, a short while later a frustrated and disgruntled Inoki unloads hell onto the superheavyweight who is left unconscious and bleeding.
Wondered about "African Rand" myself. I always thought that he only appeared twice in this country, both contests being tag matches, once against Big. D. and the other against John Quinn partnered by Rex Strong.

A feature on The Bulk was in an edition of Joint's magazine "Wrestling Scene" and stated he helped keep his enormous weight up by drinking 10 pints of beer a day!!!
I wouldn't be able to see the ring after 10 pints let alone get in it! As the good book states " A wrestler shall not live on girth alone."

I can find him listed as a trainer of later South African wrestlers.
And who was Don Charles?
African Rand's name was given as Don Charles and I can find about a dozen bouts for him (plus a few more bills without results) from his 1980 visit.
Was "African Rand" Phil Rowe?

"Incredible Bulk....42 stone....72 inch waist...Amazing..."
Had to chuckle at that, is that the first time anyone's waist size was mentioned on a Wrestling bill?
Totally agree Hack,as they say us boys never grow up!! ha ha
Thanks anyway Al.
Yep, it's a long time ago. But isn't it great we are still all young enough to come out and play?
Sorry Hack it was a long time ago!!
Thanks Main Mask, Hate to say I actually went to Epsom Baths that night what I can remember it was a total farce!!
Any thoughts on the Tag Match at Epsom Baths!!
