As I posted in another topic, for a while, Paul Lincoln sent out typewritten bills by mail to some sort of subscriber base. I don't have more details, but as folks had mentioned that they'd never seen these pieces of collateral before, I thought i'd post what I have here:
This was the one I posted in the other topic, for a show at Manor Place Baths (usually run by DeMarto):
I holidayed in Corton, by Lowestoft. But no wrestling 😥😥😥
I only remember seeing posters for it Bernard, when I was a lad, holidaying in Great Yarmouth, which is next door.
It would be interesting to know if anyone else remembers wrestling in Lowestoft.
Very good, Saxo, you are probaly right.
Looks like Bob K was L'Ange Blanc over multiple appearances - and gee, he sure looked like the original - but he never let a word out to us about this in Hastings.
Bob is a latter-day fan so it it is quite feasible that he forgot, even crushed inside a mask.
Anglo, if I am reading this correctly, when you ask
"...I wonder who Dr Death's un-named Giant American was?..."
I assume it was the person on the next newsletter, that The Ost posted on here, Rene Lasartesse, the giant Swiss wrestler, who Paul Lincoln has renamed as "Big Jack Larsar, the great American attraction, direct from the USA, 6'6" Tall, 245lbs."
That would make the most sense here.
Great nostalgia, and opening up a new form of publicity for me. Memories also of those dreaded Gestetner machines where the wayward inky stencils were drawn inexplicably towards white shirts.
The letters are headed Lincoln House, very grand sounding, but are oddly signed ""Your promoter," with no reference to Paul Lincoln Managements.
Another White Angel v DD unmasking, a World Heavyweight Championship (official no less) and the World White Judo Championship. What wonderful nonsense.
"Heavyweight bouts of varying interest" seems a remarkably honest phrase!
Fascinating reading, thank you The Ost.
I wonder who Dr Death's un-named Giant American was?
We have a new VIP fan - Lionel Bart! This would have been the time when Oliver was in the West End.
Bob Anthony is TV's most popular star and the use of titles is rather outrageous. It seems that in these personalized letters that Lincoln felt he could get away with murder.
Jacy/Jacques Lageat seems to be all over the place weight- and title-wise. I wonder whether he had a title in France? He wrestled Billy Howes on tv, with Howes winning his European title on Cupp Final Day 1962.
These event mailers reminded me of the wrestler promos that the Lincoln promotional group produced for their foreign imports. I'm not sure if these only were mailed or if they were also available in the halls. A couple of examples are below:
Th other ones I have are for the Tooting Granaga spectaculars (something that MM has made topics about previously) and these are text-only:
The majority I have are for the Essoldo in Brighton. Here they are:
Dale Martin did a similar thing. It was called the Mailing List. I received regular publicity through the post.
