JOINT PROMOTIONS never got round to Inaugerating a Tag Team Championship-Leastways
Officially!--Probably a Mistake as there was Definitely 'Mileage' in such a Vehicle-with so many
Really Good Combos regularly Wrestling in British Rings in the '60's and '70's!
JOINT didn't...but PAUL LINCOLN DID!!-Never One to Miss a Money-Spinning Opportunity-
he had a Few Notable Pairings in his Stable!-Including the MASKED Combo-The WHITE ANGELS!
He Decided to Stage 'WORLD' Eliminators for the Tag Team Title which Culminated in The Final
Below at The DE MONTFORT HALL in LEICESTER!
The Contestants being The Regular Pairing of JUDO AL HAYES and RAY HUNTER against the
Formidable Team of SKI HI LEE and DOCTOR DEATH!!-Both Teams allegedly 'Unbeaten'?!
The Winners of this Titanic Clash would Collect the Champions'-and RUSLAN will Love this-
SOLID GOLD WORLD TROPHY!-Although there is NO mention of Title Belts?!
Should JOINT have Introduced a Tag Team Championship?-Surely it would have been a 'Winner'?
Below I'm Holding My Large LINCOLN Mini-Poster/Flyer with the Tag Final Topping The Bill!
MAIN MASK
Van Lotter /Murphy held the title for a short while. South African as a European champion must have seemed strange to 1961 fans
Lincoln also had European tag team champions. Fred Van Lotter and Joe Murphy were champions but in Ron's marvelous gallery is a 1961 bill at the Metropolitan where Ken Joyce and Eddie Capelli were defending their European title against Van Lotter and Murphy.
"Wrestling at its best "Mike Bennett v Jim Mckenzie but still far down the bill
Lincoln didn't poach the hall from Morrell. They put on weekly shows simultaneously.
Leicester must have been a great place to live.
Beautifully put together flyer, there. Nicely balanced bill.
Yes, I agree, fascinating to see Lincoln poach (?) a leading venue. Would love to know how it came about.
It is interesting though that this hall went from Morrell to Lincoln promotions
He also billed Jr Tag Team champions, the Cortez Brothers. But only about every few months (and they were working for him every week).
Brilliant poster Main Mask.
Pulling the fans in to Leicester.
Never say I'm sceptical but .. were there ever any elimination contests?
As an aside....
In secondary school ( that's modern, none of this fancy grammar school stuff), I impressed the history teacher when he asked who knew anything about Simon DeMontfort. I was the only one who did because I had read my encyclopedia after seeing a poster for the DeMontfort hall.
Lincoln was always a long way ahead of Joint. Such a shame he eventually sold out.
A great find MM ,as you say Lincoln did not miss many opportunities
never heard of it...solid gold trophy, the only one I knew of was the Jules Rimet Cup, England won in 1966, but that was football.
