Apart from the occasional mention (usually is he really a Geordie?) Linde Caulder has rarely cropped up in the forum, certainly never a dedicated topic. Yet in the 1960s he was very busy both in singles and tag. My recollection is of a good wrestler, very athletic and skilful. Usually in a support match unless on with one of the big guns. Could more have been made of him? Or was there just too much talent around at the time? He disappeared 1972, off to Canada to continue body building. Any thoughts?

This caused me to have one of my epiphanies…..Mr. Caulder was from South Shields and his sister was Eric Burdon’s girlfriend at one time. http://forum.southshields-sanddancers.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?t=22012
I met Henry/Linde in Calgary in the early 1970’s. He played rugby for the Hornets me the Rams. Great guy. He also did tile setting as well as wrestled. After a game with us we when to a hotel bar (all the hotels were the only places that were allowed to have bars at the time) and it was Henry’s 40th birthday. More drinks and singing rugby songs. Bouncer comes over “no signing”- didn’t stop “I’ll throw you out “ Want to try we said - sees us “big people” and grabs 5’-8” Henry! (215 #) He didn’t know Henry from wrestling and figures he will go after the ”smallest” man in the group- bad choice! Henry pulls off his oversized sweater and says “you want a piece of this mate”. Bouncer turned pale and hightailed it out as I shouted the next rounds on you- it was! Played against him for over 5 years and yes a load of ex Calgary rugby players living in the Kelowna area.
Erm? Mixing up Linde and Blackjack Larry stretches credibility even for wrestling.

MATCH ONE
Lindy Calder vs. Kasavubu w/ Gen. Bryant
One fall 10 minutes Referee Jack Bence
We see "Champagne" Gerry Morrow in his tag partner's corner but today, it seems there might be no stopping the gargantuan Ugandan.
AT: "General Bob Bryant is vehemently demanding that his jungle giant inflict more damage on Lindy Calder. Why not tell the fans how this Kasavubu got beat on Monday, rather than taking potshots at me?"
BP: "Indeed, there was a last-minute addition to the big show on Monday, where the Black Avenger defeated this big fellow".
Calder is being bent, folded and mutilation seems imminent. Morrow urges the General to call off the dog, but Bob directs his brute towards the Champagne Man!
BP: "Calder was ripe for the picking, but Bryant apparently not going to be satisfied with just a pinfall victory! The Ugandan heafhunter is now out on the floor!"
And Morrow has the quickness to avoid any immediate damage and has the ingenuity to push Bryant aside and grab Kasavubu's heavy wooden shield. A loud THWACK echoes through the studio as Bence has no choice...
RESULT MATCH ONE
Kasavubu defeats Lindy Calder via DISQUALIFICATION @ 5:40
I saw Linde at an outdoor show in Eastbourne, labelled as 'A Cavalcade of Sport' I think it would have been 1960-63. Starting in the morning and running through to late afternoon, it featured cycling, speedway, stock cars and wrestling. The wrestling was held before the finals of the stock cars. Hurley v Cassio, Clayton Thompson v Arjit Singh and Linde v Jackie Pallo. All the kids were allowed to jump the fence and sit at ringside. Great day. In the 70s, Actor Derek Deadman (he of the pronounced underbite) told me that he and Linde were among the first to join the 'UGLY' advertising agency and I do remember Linde appearing in a couple of t.v. ads. Linde was a really good worker.
I have to admit, I didn't realise until now that Linde wrestled in Stampede with the Harts and even went in with John Foley over there.
