Hello,
I always enjoy reading the scans of magazines and programmes generously scanned for this forum.
Are there any other resources or websites out there that contain uploads from magazines such as The Wrestler or Ringsport?
I love the mesh of hocus pocus, sport and adverts from yesteryear.
Many thanks.
Never understood why the Wrestler suddenly stopped publication
I just picked up 34 copies of the wrestler for a fairly minimal amount. They are out there, you have to go and look.
Hi Chris. There is a ton of magazines 50s, and upwards at the Internet Archive. Easy, name, email, password and you’re in. Or google, “wrestling magazines internet archive” and voila! I’ve let many people know of this library archive for years (millions of books, audio, video, etc), but no one has ever shown much interest. There’s nowt queer as folks!
Thanks all, I found this great thread on this old forum (many of you probably frequented it back in the day). https://tony6499.proboards.com/thread/1055/out-vaults-interest
I think I know the site SaxonWolf referred to. It had about a dozen Wrestler magazines in full and promised the lot. But as far as I know it came to nothing and last time I looked I couldn't see it.
Have a look in the Galleries and Miscellany section of www.wrestlingfurnace.site
Also,
I actually did come across a site, years ago, that had a lot of Wrestler magazines scanned in. I can't, for the life of me, remember what it was called and I don't think I have it written down anywhere, but will try to remember.
The obvious starting points (to me) would be to search "British Wrestling", or something similar, on Pinterest or Blogspot.
You would surely enjoy your own collection of The Wrestler magazines, with their important glossy touch.
Always available on Ebay.
Buy a few. Not dear. Buy a few more. Create a few gaps and obtaining 60% is rather straightforward and easier than reading a tiny computer screen.
I reiterate, this is not facetious. I mean you would thoroughly enjoy the process and end product.
I had Mucky Mal Kirk's personalised autograph. And lost it. Doesn't matter. I feel like I still have it.
I used to have a wonderful fast scanner twelve years ago but the advance of technology means that my current one wants an expensive cartridge every time I look at it.
